Jim Philp and Charles E. Wyman: a great honour for TWB
On the occasion of the meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board of TWB and its Strategic Steering Committee, TWB invited Drs Jim Philp (OECD – Paris, France) and Charles E. Wyman (University of California – USA) to hold a conference on bioeconomy.
All members of the international Scientific Advisory Board and Strategic Steering Committee had met Wednesday 5 October at Toulouse to listen and question these two internationally renowned experts.
Jim Philp (PhD) held a conference on the bioeconomy role to face economic and political challenges such as climate change. For bioeconomy policy makers, the future is complex and multi-faceted.
Jim Philp (PhD) is a microbiologist who has worked as a Policy Analyst since 2011 at the OECD, specialising in industrial biotechnology.
Charles E. Wyman, Distinguished Professor in the University of California (UCR) Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department and Head of Ford Motor Company Chair in Environmental Engineering, discussed the use of lignocellulosic biomass for the production of biofuels and chemicals. His research team has developed a new pretreatment of lignocellulosic source to achieve better final yields.
