Press release: TWB opens its consortium on January 1st, 2015
TWB opens its consortium to new partners, actors in the field of the industrial biotechnology, on January 1st, 2015.
Toulouse White Biotechnology (TWB), a pre-industrial demonstrator created in 2012 and administrated by INRA, is based on a consortium of 20 private companies, 5 investors, 2 tech transfer companies and 9 public partners. On January 1st, 2015, TWB opens its consortium to new private and public partners, actors of the industrial biotechnology.
“About fifteen companies have already announced their wish to join the TWB consortium, says Michel Manach, Business development manager. French healthcare companies, technology societies and numerous start-up are interested to be a member of the consortium and benefit from assets of the demonstrator and more globally to develop the bioeconomy.”
Indeed, the interest of the consortium is multiple, as to benefit from a scientific environment of first rank to accelerate industrial development projects or direct the development of research themes and have an favored access to the intellectual property, or still to utilize the state-of-the-art equipment of the TWB technical support platforms.
For Paul Colonna, Deputy scientific director of INRA and President of the TWB consortium, the opening of the consortium for TWB is equivalent, on a strategic point of view, to an extension of the capital for a company. “The consortium is the reflection of the growth of TWB and its federative ambition. Today, any project of industrial biotechnology leans on a network complementary actors to synergize. It is the first condition to move towards an effective bioeconomy.”
TWB hopes the arrival of new partners will consolidate its role of accelerator of industrial biotechnology development at the national level and open its international network.
